Josh Maxey has been teaching professionally since 2002. He has taught adults and children of all experience levels in private lesson format as well as in classroom settings. His lessons have included studies of the basics of guitar, time saving tips for beginners, songwriting, theory, rhythm, technique, soloing, and beginning to advanced blues, rock and jazz.
Josh began teaching while attending The New School University Jazz and Contemporary Music Program, where he earned a BFA in Jazz Performance. Josh was also given a full scholarship to attend the Jazz Aspen Snowmass summer program in 2002. He has worked on recordings and concerts with Carly Simon, Rob Thomas, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Rodney Jones, High Note Records and Blue Note Records. Josh has been fortunate to apprentice and learn from many legends and masters of music, as well as to record and perform with his own bands. His focus is to help any student find and take their next step in music.
