Pete Matthiessen
Pete began playing the guitar when he was 11 years old. He soon began working on his calluses learning songs by Megadeth, Metallica, The Beatles, and Yes. He also made sure to attend the National Guitar Workshop every summer. When he was old enough, Pete entered The Berklee College of Music in Boston and majored in Composition and Production. While at Berklee, he wrote a vast array of arrangements and compositions for orchestra, big band, string quartet, rock bands, and even got some work writing electronic music for video games. Pete also played in a variety of bands and ensembles in the greater Boston area as a guitarist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He currently plays 11 instruments and is always working on new ones!
Pete has taught in the intensive three-year internship at the National Guitar Workshop and loves to help private students of all levels progress on the guitar. He has recently relocated from Boston and he can't wait to start playing, writing, and teaching in New York!
