Need to know how to read music? This course is designed for the intermediate/advanced guitarist who has a desire to learn to read traditional music notation. Learning to understand music notation is the doorway to becoming a musician and not just a guitarist. Since conventional music notation involves notes and rhythms this course is actually two in one. You’ll learn how to read the notes on the music staff as well as a have a strong understanding of how rhythms work. The bonus is the knowledge you gain about rhythms directly applies to strumming patterns and riffs. Additional topics include; key signature, time signature, circle of fifths, tempo, dynamics, song direction (i.e. repeat sign, D.C. al Coda etc), and other essential tools. Upon completing this course you will have the ability to read notes and put them on the guitar as well as being able to read rhythms and even create your own strumming patterns. You will also feel comfortable looking at songbooks and playing them correctly. These are essential tools of any musician and it will greatly improve your confidence and every aspect of your guitar playing. All materials provided. Guitars available for use in the classroom.
