WHERE NEW YORK CITY PLAYS GUITAR
Date:January 22, 2016

Emma Munger

Emma Munger grew up in Manhattan and began playing guitar when she was 13 years old—taking private lessons and performing in rock clubs around the city. She attended Kenyon College in Gambier, OH, where she studied jazz guitar and performed in motown and funk groups regularly. During the summers in NYC, she worked at Kids Creative Summer Camp and Come Join the Band (teaching kids ages 5-13 to write and perform original songs), and taught private lessons to students of all ages. Her musical sensibilities are largely influenced by the playing of Bill Frisell, Nels Cline, and Marisa Anderson (among others). In addition to teaching at NYC Guitar School, she currently works as a music archivist at the Erroll Garner Jazz Project, is the lead guitarist in the indie rock ensemble Birch, and plays in the Gramercy Guitar Trio.   We're excited to have Emma as part of our team!
