Date:January 24, 2017

Priyal Maheshwari

Priyal Maheshwari is one of our newest additions to the faculty of NYCGS. Born and brought up in India, Priyal discovered his passion for music at an early age, when he started his professional training in Classical Indian Music as a Tabla player (Indian Percussion).

Coming from a diverse background of Science and Engineering, he spent 5 years in Indian Institute of Technology discovering his newly found zeal to master the guitar. After traveling and interning in Russia, Singapore and parts of Europe and after gigging in local events across Central India and West Bengal, he moved to New York City to pursue a dream of fusing together his love for Poetry and Guitar, and becoming a Music Composer and Songwriter.

His past experiences range from soloing on the lead guitar to fingerpicking on the classical guitar. His biggest influences in terms of musical finesse and creative abstraction have been Pink Floyd, A.R. Rahman, Daft Punk and Arctic Monkeys among others.

By day, he preserves his ardent love for avid reading, speedcubing and creative writing.
