William has loved music for as long as he remembers. Coming from Greensboro, NC, he began playing guitar at age 10 with an amplifier and a patient family. Soon after, he was learning new chords from songbooks of The Beatles and trying to emulate his first guitar icon, Eric Clapton.
After playing in bands and making records throughout high school, William studied classical guitar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance. All the while he continued to perform in bands, first on the local club circuit and then on a national level. It was in the area's fertile music scene where he gained much of his experience, recording and performing original music in a wide variety of settings. A rocker at heart, he has played with groups whose styles vary from folk, to blues, to classical, to theatrical, to jazz fusion.
In his college career he developed a love for teaching. When he was young, he remembers recording songs on the radio to cassette so that he could learn how to play them at his next lesson. He loves bringing that excitement of learning music to all of his students.
