James holds a Masters of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from SUNY Purchase where he has studied with João Luiz and Frederic Hand AND a Masters in Education–when he isn’t teaching guitar, he teaches math to middle school students. He is even certified in the Suzuki Guitar method for teaching young children, with experience in helping children as young as 2 years old begin to fall in love with the guitar with proper technique and a strong musical foundation. James has taught for NYC Guitar School for many years, and we’re so delighted that he brings his experience and gentle expertise to kids and adults in our Westchester location.
James has taken the stage in various styles of music and has experience in teaching genres such as rock, metal, jazz, blues, and classical. He encourages his students to experience the many passions that musical diversity has to offer. James follows the philosophy that a strong ear and technique allows a musician to push his or her creative boundaries in new and interesting directions. He strives to give his students a well-rounded musical education that will allow them to reach their full potential as independent and talented artists.
James teaches in our Westchester studio in Northwest Yonkers near the Hastings-On-Hudson border. You can view his open schedule and even book a trial lesson using the booking tool below–select “ASAP” to see his next day’s availability, or “NEXT WEEK” or “TWO WEEKS” for more options.
