John began playing guitar at the beginning of middle school. At home he learned how to play his favorite songs by The Beatles and Nirvana, and at school he joined the jazz and symphonic bands. He quickly began to play and write music with friends outside of school, at which point he discovered his passion for songwriting. It remains his passion to this day and he enjoys writing music both by himself as well as with others in a rock band setting.
Some of his biggest inspirations are Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch and Elliott Smith. John plays in a variety of styles including indie rock, country, folk, blues and jazz. He strives to forge a strong personal connection with his students and relishes the opportunity to teach beginners. He considers it a privilege to introduce to his students the power and positivity of creative and personal expression through music playing!
