Details And FAQs

Q: What does an online class or lesson look like?
A: Online classes or lessons are exactly the same format as in-person classes and private lessons with the exact same teachers — only you get to play from the comfort of your own home. Instruction is real-time and all you need is your guitar, Internet connection, a computer, or a mobile device.

Q: How long are lessons?
A:
Private lessons are 45 minutes long. (Group classes meet for one hour sessions.)

Q: How much is tuition for lessons?
A: The trial lesson is discounted and runs from $50 to $60 depending on location. After the trial you can continue with individual lessons at $80 - $100 per lesson, however most of our students take advantage of our discounted lesson sets. Complete pricing is shown below:

TRIAL LESSON. $50 for studio or online lesson. $60 for home lesson.

STUDIO AND ONLINE LESSONS.  Individual 45 Minute Studio or Online Lesson: $80. Discounted block rate for on-going sets of five=$68.50 each.

HOME LESSONS (Anytime at your Manhattan home or office).  Individual 45 Minute Home Lesson: $100. Discounted block rate for on-going sets of five=$78.50 each. For more info and to sign up for in-home lessons, click HERE.

(SUZUKI and VOICE lessons work differently. For details check out the Suzuki page or the Voice page.)

Q: What are on-going sets of 5 lessons?
A: You can use a debit or credit card to purchase a discounted set of five lessons. After your fifth lesson, your card will automatically run for the next set of five. This is not a contract! You can stop lessons at any time and receive a FULL refund of unused lessons.  This is our most discounted lesson package.   Do you prefer to pay with check or cash?  ...or do you prefer not to be on auto-renew? You can also purchase a prepaid set of 10 lessons at a 10% discount. Just call our friendly staff to find out!

Q: What if I'm a complete beginner?
A: Don't worry! Our teachers are patient and supportive, and we have a top notch curriculum to help beginners gently achieve confidence and competence.

Q: Is it hard to set my computer up for online lessons?
A: No, it's super easy! We use a platform called Zoom, which works across virtually any operating system or device. After you schedule your lesson, we will email you a link for the lesson. Just save that email, and then click the link before the lesson begins.

Q: How do I prepare for my first lesson?
A: This is the number one question we get asked by new students. Meeting a teacher and starting to learn guitar online can be both exciting and--depending on how much experience you have with taking lessons online--a bit daunting. But we'll help you get ready step by step. When you sign up, we'll send you a link for a test meeting to make sure that your equipment is ready for your lesson. If you need to download an app or an extension, you'll be prompted to do so. Just follow the prompts!

And of course, if you have ANY QUESTIONS we are standing by to help at 646-485-7244 or via email us at info@nycguitarschool.com.
