The Voice Studio – Group Classes & Private Lessons

And it's one of the best feelings on earth!

Want to sing along with your favorite songs on the guitar? Learning vocal technique can help you accompany yourself while playing and give you confidence as a singer. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned vocalist, you can learn new skills at the Vocal Workshop at NYC Guitar School or Brooklyn Guitar School. No experience needed, beginners welcome!

VOCAL WORKSHOP I: Intro to Singing
In this 8-Week Group Singing Class, you’ll learn the basics of good vocal technique: breath support and tone production. While learning to sing contemporary pop, rock, and R&B songs, you’ll develop a stronger, more resonant, more musical voice. You’ll improve your ear for rhythm, learn to harmonize, and improve your stage presence. And best of all, each week you’ll experience the joy of singing together in a group, one of the most exhilarating and uplifting experiences on earth.
Open to anyone 18 & up, no prior voice study required. Optional recommendations: Water bottle & mini-recorder (or smartphone with voice memo function).

VOCAL WORKSHOP II: Singing And Playing
Learn to sing and play hit songs while reinforcing the basic vocal techniques learned in Vocal Workshop I. This 8-week class will emphasize deeply learning a few tunes, so you’ll come away with songs you can actually perform for family and friends. Your class will perform as a group at the end.
Requirements: Completed Vocal Workshop I or by audition. Students not comfortable playing guitar can choose to play simple hand percussion instead, such as a shaker or tambourine.

VOCAL WORKSHOP III: Intro to Individual Vocal Technique
Now that you are comfortable singing and playing, we refocus on the voice itself. Digging deeper into the techniques learned in Vocal Workshop I, we sing more advanced songs in the same quality-over-quantity approach. This 8-week class will also explore harmony singing by ear, and will also feature two individual performances as well as a group performance.
Requirements: Completed Vocal Workshop II or by audition.

VOCAL WORKSHOP IV: Advanced Individual Vocal Technique
It just keeps getting more fun! Reinforce and master the skills learned in Vocal Workshops I – III, including vocal technique, singing and playing, and harmonizing. We will sing several songs in an ensemble, with lead and harmony parts. But the main focus will remain on individual performance. Look out, Carnegie Hall!
Requirements: Completed Vocal Workshop III or by audition.
